Hello, Here are my thoughts on the matter. For the brief synopsis, I think the submiter should write his or her own (this is probably more feasible as well, since book reviews are rarely 200 characters or less in length.) Also, for many books one can buy online, the seller often times includes their own brief synopsis--their view of a vague plot outline. For the longer synopsis, however, I count this as the equivalent of a sighted person picking up a book and reading the back cover, so I include whatever description the book cover has--if any. If there is no book description on the book, then I write my own long synopsis, elaborating on my brief synopsis. I do not use reviews written by other people that one would find from Amazon or Barnes and Noble, except if that synopsis is stated as being directly from the publisher (because I have found that those synopses are the ones included on book covers.) After all, as volunteers I think it might be better since often times other people have written better descriptions of the book. This way we don't have to worry about writing an eloquent description of our own. Or is this considered plagiarism (even if cited?) and would admins prefer we write our own sinapses?
