You are right--I am referring to the finished product. But shouldn't bookshare be concerned about their finished product? And I would say the Braille trannslator translates them into BRF files BEFORE they hit the collection. Is that not correct, or is this a "what comes first, the chicken or the egg" kind of thing? (smile)

You seem to be referring to what the Braille translator does to the files after they are in the collection as DAISY and BRF. Am I understanding you correctly?

That really irks me, and I see it a lot. And beggin' your pardon, Scott, but the convertor does not take care of smart quotes. Another thing that needs to be fixed is the slipsis, followed by a closing quote, as in an interrupted dialogue. Ever since the new site went up, those are not translated correctly in the BRF files. I reported it until I got weary. Apostrophes used where we in America would use quotes should be left alone. Smart quotes which come from some OCR programs need to be changed to standard quotes. Hope that helps. I understood that they needed to be changed to regular quotes because they didn't come out right in Braille. Ann P. -- Ann K.
