Actually Mayrie, I'm sorry but I don't know what kinds of chapters these books had. They are still on my computer and I'll check it out later (right now I don't want to touch those lousy books for a while), but I'll get you the updated data by tomorrow.

Hi Bob, Thank you so much! On the books where you did not mention thepresence of chapter headings, are we to infer that they weren't there if youdidn't tell us that they were? Books present chapter headings in several ways that I have seen. Some are like this: CHAPTER ONE Chapter One Chapter 1 1 (simply the arabic numeral 1) One ONE Are some of the representations preserved better than others, perhaps? Muddying the waters more, I know. I'll send my findings in another message. Thank you again, Bob. I appreciate your intestinal fortitude! Okay, here are my results. But first, I have some serendipitous findings. 1. I can't count. Mayrie said five books and I grabbed six. 2. 7-zip only accepts file names 268 characters long. 3. I missed my nap so expect me to be crabby all afternoon. ----- Book results follow.Up until now I have never messed with fonts or spacing when proof reading abook. The daisy format for all books were downloaded. Book checks were done in Kurzweil version 9.* Tear Down This Myth: How The Reagan Legacy Has Distorted Our Politics AndHaunts Our Future by Bunch, Will I did not protect chapter headings, but I think the scannor did. Daisy navigational results are great. Page numbers are at the top of the page. * Scooby-Doo And The Frankenstein Monster (Scooby-Doo Mysteries #12) by Gelsey, James I did not protect chapter headings, but I think the scannor did. Daisy navigational results are poor. Page numbers are not present. * The Boss's Christmas Proposal by Leigh, Allison I did protect chapter headings with a row of asterisks. Daisy navigational results are poor. Page numbers are not present. * Religion Gone Bad: The Hidden Dangers Of The Christian Right by White, Mel I did not protect chapter headings. Daisy navigational results are good. Page numbers are not present. (I don't think).* The Courtier And The Heretic: Leibniz, Spinoza, And The Fate Of God In TheModern World by Stewart, MatthewI did not protect chapter headings except to make sure they were at the topof the page. Daisy navigational results are haphazard. Page numbers are at the top of the page. * Crafting A Cloning Policy: From Dolly To Stem Cells by Bonnicksen, Andrea L. I did not protect chapter headings. Chapter headings are present. Daisy Navigational results are poor. Page numbers are at the top of the page. This is getting ridiculous. I was the one being annoyed and now I'm just more bugged. Too much conflicting information. Here's what I propose. Everyone, please, help me out here? I am going to go download the last five books I've either submitted or proofread. I'm going to go check if the chapter headings arepresent. I'm going to look at the most recent of Laura Ann's proofreads,as she inserts no text to protect chapter headings. Laura Ann, I'm notcriticizing at all. I'm actually brilliantly thankful that I have you asa comparison. Thank you for being my subject here. I really am not chastizing you, just using you as a comparison. If her chapter headings arepresent, then the new stripper is as it is advertised. If not, somethingneeds to change. If chapter headings are present in Laura Ann's books, then I eat my words, and I apologize most sincerely and grovelingly to everyone for having started this at all. Would anyone else be willing to look at their last five proofreads, preferably only books added to the collection after the launch of the newweb site, and tell us what is the status of their chapter headings, and what they did or did not do to protect them? This seems like the only way to know what is actually happening. Only each proofreader knows what she did to any given book duringproofreading. We can put this to rest if we will all go look at our mostrecent five proofreads. Please? Help me put this absolutely annoying issue to bed! Ah, there's the rub. Mayrie says move 'em, Monica says "no need to". They are both respectedgurus on this list and I'm just too lazy to move page numbers if it isn'tnecessary. Plus, it seems like a breach of the unspoken rule that says don't change a book if you don't have to. Hi, Susan. I was waiting for Mayrie to answer you. Alas... Sleep tight, Mayrie. I think that's another reason I was taught to put the page numbers at the top. I think. Without the page numbers, surely your Chapter headings are doomed.
