You have it right, the technology exists but it so hard to afford it.
Even
when I still worked $995 would have been steep, much less with a SSDI
check for income. Does anyone offer payment plans for their software?

Tim, I just got Kurzweil this summer. It is $995.00. It is high, but
well worth it. I know some are using OmniPage Pro, which isn't as high,
but I don't personally have any experience with it. I sure wish more
assistive technology companies would develop payment plans considering
the cost of their products.

I used this software about 5 years ago. It did a pretty decent job
with
character recognition. My biggest complaint, was that it was a huge
memory hog. Often times, I would get the message that I was out of
virtual memory while using this program. I had a pretty good amount of
ram at the time. The latest version may be better, though.Other than
that, I don't remember much about the program.
