Thank you for that E-mail, Gary. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has thought this. Jill ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary Petraccaro" <garyp130@xxxxxxxxxxx>

I've been advocating disabling autocorrections ever since v.9 or so. I never use them. I find the spell checker's equally usless. as far as recommendations go. It's great for pointing out problems, but it's solutions aren't often in accord with the book I happening to be scanning.E.g., I'm slogging my way through an Anderson novel. He has compound words and the spellchecker wants to separate them which is never what the author wants.----- Original Message ----- From: "Jill O'Connell" <jillocon@xxxxxxxxxx>To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, July 14, 2008 1:12 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] scanning questionI am validating a book with Kurzweil and am aware, as I often am when validating, that wrong words often result as Kurzweil attempts to make sense of them. Has anyone ever tried disabling this feature, assuming you can, of course. It would no doubt result in a longer misspelled list, but I wonder if it might be worth it.
