Another good and heavy-duty scanner is the EPSON 2400. It has since been withdrawn, but can be found as a refurbished unit at the EPSON online store for $75 at: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=31061924 Guido Dante Corona IBM Accessibility Center, Austin Tx. Re: Re: identifying books from download list Lots. They are both critical components. If you are blind, the program that is in most cases easiest to use and is likely to give high results is Kurzweil 1000. Some of the best scanners are made by EPSON: 3170 and 1660 if you can still find one. Or current 4180, a little slower but apparently quite strong.
