Openbook 6 can get clear scans. If that's what you own, go with it. (smile) I would suggest turning off the option for de-speckle text since that is only useful when scanning either newspapers or books that have a decorative background behind the print. Openbook leaves this option on by default, and you will get a clearer scan without it. Since Openbook doesn't have any kind of confidence announcement for when a page scans poorly, I would suggest scanning and reading as you go. If you use batch mode, you could scan 100 pages of junk and only find out about it much later. If you scan a page and them read it, you will immediately know if a page needs to be rescanned. You can read about some great tips for getting a clean scan using various scanning packages on the Friends Of Bookshare site. It's worth reading, and you can save the file for later if you want. http://www.friendsofbookshare.org/scanning_tips.htm
