I tend to think of my scanner bed the same as a sheet of paper, so that the
narrow parts are the top and bottom and the wide parts are the sides.
If I scan in 2 page mode, I notice that sometimes the scanner likes it with
the book's right page at the top but sometimes if it is getting persnickety I
reverse that.
If I scan in one page mode then it doesn't matter because it has to go
whichever way the book fits on the scanner.
