Great.  I'd love a 3800 but I have a 3600 now and a brand new 3600 in the
box never opened so parliament won't approve a 3800 yet, smile.

thanks so much, guys, for your suggestions. I'm glad to know there are
compatible scanners that are better designed to scan books that the good old
Epsons and I think I am going to give the 3800 a try. Books are what I scan
about 90% of the time.

It depends on how much you are willing to spend on one but a lot of us are
using the optic book 3600. They have the 3800 and 4800 out now but I know
the only thing is they did away with the setting of the lamp. You can go to

I appologize as this may not be particularly on-topic for this list, but as
a scanner for Bookshare, it's important to me!

My scanner died yesterday and I just wanted to know if anyone here has any
suggestions for scanners to use with K1000. I don't think the Epson scanner
that I had is available any longer. I also contacted Kurzweil but they're
not testing scanners these days so suggested I stick with Epsons but that
was about all the advice they could give.

Your help would be much appreciated!!!
