and more from my end, sheesh guys! ----- Original Message ----- From: Gary Petraccaro To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, September 10, 2009 2:48 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: resigning from the volunteer list I'm rather indifferent. I find E refreshingly to the point. Anyone who thinks so much about one person's tone as to drop BookShare because of one person is looking for an excuse to do that. Besides, there's just too much chatter on this list in the first place. 178 messages on this list. Amazing. ----- Original Message ----- From: Amber Wallenstein To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, September 09, 2009 10:45 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: resigning from the volunteer list If her tone is "brusque" as you call it, why have at least ten people I know of personally, and I don't know a ton of people on the net unsubscribed and in some cases, stopped volunteering altogether due to harsh criticism by E. and others? People need to realize that brusqueness in one affects others. Especially if one is new, they will not know E. is brusque. they will assume rudeness was implied. We should not have to tell new volunteers, "Oh, so and so is brusque, go ahead and ignore that, they've gotten better". We've said this over and over and I think that need not be said. Instead, people need to realize they are writing to a public list and curb their emotions and brusqueness, as it were. E. has been told for years she needs to be more mindful. this is just the last straw, apparently.
