[bksvol-discuss] Re: request of submitters

Jamie has an interesting idea here. I'm still thinking it through. As
Elizabeth says, it could confuse some people. Then again, the people who are
confused by it are probably not reading this list. Since Jamie's books only
need one proofreader per book, confusing off-list people may not really
matter that much. In Jamie's defense, putting that a book need special care
in the comments doesn't seem to phase some proofreaders or slow them down.
They don't seem to even read the comments section before taking a book. So
her solution may discourage the less observant proofreaders from taking her
books. I don't know what I think about this yet. I do know that I wish there
could be an easy answer here. At least Bookshare staff are aware of the
problems with proofreaders who aren't doing even minimal work on books. We
also have a way to report quality concerns to Bookshare now, and that may
help to highlight a pattern of doing nothing and getting credit for it since
Bookshare retains the original copy of a submitted book. They could easily
spot-check books to see if proofreading has indeed been done if there
appears to be a pattern of book neglect.
