It seemed to be more than just the garbled header and this was usually
occurring in the same area as the header.

It sounds like this books mostly had garbled headers, which could have been
fixed or removed without referencing a print copy of the book. Is the text
of the book garbled, or is it just the annoying headers? I don't think
mangled headers are enough to lower a book's quality, although they are
certainly a nuisance.
