I would replace them as I read, or if I didn’t read the whole thing, I should
think a spell check would find them. I would be leary of John’s solution
because each instance would require something different for the replace with
box. Just my thoughts, but I always read what I proof. Even then, I need to do
a spell check last thing because I don’t catch everything. (smile) Just my
thoughts.

1. place your cursor on the soft hyphen.
2. press shift plus right arrow to sellect it.
3. press control plus c to copy it to your clipboard.
4. press control plus h for find and replace.
5. press control plus v to paste the soft hyphen into the search field.
6. press tab and enter what you want to change the soft hyphen to.
7. press tab twice for one replace or three times to replace all instances.

Hello All:
Thank you so much. Would you be able to tell me how to replace the soft
hyphen? I don’t have the number pad on my laptop, so something where I can just
do a find and replace would be great.
Again, thank you.

Hello All:
This is Aidee, one of the proofreaders. I have a (hopefully) quick
question. I’m reading a book someone scanned for one of my classes, and there’s
this character that keeps showing up that splits words. However, JAWS isn’t
reading it out loud, so I am not really sure what it is. Do any of you lovely
knowledgeable people know what it could be? I have copied and pasted it below.

It is right after “say.”
Thank you all so much for your time and help.
