You could start by going to the FreeLists website. There's a link there titled Get Your Own List. You might also want to check out YahooGroups, which is Yahoo's version of e-mail lists. Please do take this off-list. You guys have generate a ton of off-topic e-mail over the last few days, probably at least 80 or 90 percent has been off-topic, and if it keeps up, then new volunteers who want to learn about volunteering will probably start unsubscribing because they'll decide that the amount of messages related to volunteering isn't worth the hastle of wading through the off-topic e-mail. If nothing else, have pitty on us poor list monitors who volunteered to read all of the messages in order to assist the staff in answering questions on the list. I'll never be able to talk Kellie into taking the job back if you guys keep it up. <Grin> Oh, one last thing. If you can't figure out FreeLists, then I'd suggest contacting Gustavo since he's probably the person who set up Bookshare's lists. Even if it was Marissa or Jesse who set them up, he's most likely to be their owner now. We probably will in fact need one. IDoes anyone know how to set it up? I want to be able to gather material, (assuming I edit the project) under topics. We will need to discuss the topics and lots of other things which make the spirit of the book what we want it to be. Also we need a place to talk about publishing the book and marketing it and such. I have already made notes about getting in touch with bookshare staff in case they know about how to publish a book or know folks who do. We will have to work out some kind of agreement eventually about how things get done financially, how things get paid for and how we divide up any profits assuming we make any. In short we need a list. The thing is I kind of want the list to be people who also volunteer at bookshare because we came up with the idea. And I wonder if we make it an open list if chaos and mayhem will result. Those of you who have been on rude lists and lists supported by particular organizations may know what I mean. This group can speak divilly to each other and stays away from saying things about canes being better than dogs and fights about specifically named schools. Any comments? We really are doing a number on the volunteer list and surely ought to stop. smile.
