[bksvol-discuss] Re: prohibiting kes and arc formats

Hello Barbara and Cindy,

Just some thoughts here. When submitting for validation having the kes file
with images gives a validator the chance to do some re-recognition on pages
if there are errors. Like I have said, I prefer this. IN the initial
submission of a scan the options are rtf, kes, arc now. I believe.

Now, after validating the file I believe you are required to upload the
completed book in either RTF or Braille digital format.

So depending on where the book and the volunteer is in the process the
requirements can change.

Gerald or Jake, correct me if this is not right?

Hi, Barbara,

According to this sentence from the volunteer home
page, it is the preferred format, though not
compulsory:

"Rich Text Format (RTF) is the preferred file format
for book submission to Bookshare.org. RTF enables us
to produce the most consistent content output. This
file format may be generated by using the "save as"
feature in most word processors, and it is a file
format that is available on all computer platforms."
