Hi Charisma.

Note that I have changed the subject line to more correctly describe the
subject being discussed.

Now, about pictures and picture captions: (I'm almost sure this is discussed
in the scanning and proofreading manual somewhere, but it's late and I'm too
lazy to look it up.)

We are permitted to put brief comments such as "picture captions" in the
text. These are to be brief and to the point--a lot of these notes would
impede the flow of text.
Before each of these inserts we are to put a line like "[scanner's note] or
[proofreader's note:]. Note that this is in brackets.
At the end we put [end scanner's note] or [end proofreader's note].

Then there are the authors who insert a whole bunch of pictures in the
middle of the book on unnumbered pages. I'm sure Dante's inferno has a
special place for these folks.
I always move these to the back of the book so that pagination is preserved.
But I put a proofreader's note at the bottom of the last relevant page
stating that the pictures were on the next pages but have been moved to the
end of the book. Then at the end of the book, where I insert the removed
pages, I put a note telling the reader where in the book these pictures came
from.

I hope this is clear and helpful.

Bob

Sorry, another question I thought of regarding photos after I hit send:

How do we mark the photo section? I mean, as is, all of the sudden the
text is going to be interupted with little photo caption blurbs that
make no sense where they are.

Thanks
