I agree. I had always done this before, but after seeing the info in the
manual last week, I changed what I was doing. So, I'll just change bakc.

There was an explanation as to why this blank lines around page numbers was
encouraged given quite some time ago. My memory is a bit vague on the
details, but as I recall it had something to do with the blank lines being
needed to prevent the page numbers from being placed on the same line as the
first line of text in the html version of the file.

I don't know whether this is still needful, but, as I said, it does just
look better to me to have blank lines around the page numbers.

Wherever they are, page numbers need blank lines around them. So if they are
at the top of the page, you would want to put a blank line right after the
page break and another after the page number.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] page number placement

Hi all,

Am I correct that all page numbers need to be either on the first or last
line of the page, i.e. that there should *not be a blank line preceding a
page number at the top of a page?

Thanks,

Donna
