[bksvol-discuss] Re: ot: Need Info About Technology for Deaf People

Dear Monica,

You might want to check out
www.maxiaids.com
They have a lot of choices and also a lot of stuff to wade through, but you
might find what you want.

Also, Grandma Cindy is correct. Your telephone company will probably direct
you to a centralized number for your state that provides phones for hard of
hearing.

In terms of cell phones, you might call Cingular and ask for disabled
services; I don't know what they have for hard of hearing, but it's worth a
try. In fact, my husband Mike just told me that he emailed you their phone
number.

You might try a google search for
Helen Keller International Foundation
as I believe they have information and referral.

Hope some of these thoughts will help you.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] ot: Need Info About Technology for Deaf People

Hi. I'm in a bind and really need some help. I don't know where to turn to find good information, and any ideas or suggestions would be very welcome. Does anyone here know about landline phone, cell phone or pager systems for deaf or hard of hearing people? Our family is in urgent need of a solution because my dad's business depends very heavily on him being able to hear his cell phone ring and handle phone calls. He can no longer hear the phones ring at all, and the pager he has keeps resetting itself to beep instead of vibrate. We've lost several customers due to missed calls, and it's really hurting us financially. His hearing loss is accellerating now, and his hearing aids are no longer sufficient for his needs. If you have any ideas, links, or know any people who might be able to help me, you can email me at rhyami@xxxxxxxxx . Thanks in advance for your help.
