Jim F. has stated that exchanging books among members rather than doing it through bookshare uploads and downloads is a violation of bookshare's copyright agreements, even if it may not legally be a violation in your personal life. When you joined bookshare, you agreed to bookshare's agreements of use.
Having said that, I did think that bookshare was instituting a way of getting copies back onto step 1 which were not the originals. I thought this was to be possible if we contacted Claire. I agree it would be valuable. Bookshare is going to have to do some official things to make life actually work for validators if bookshare wants step 1 to be less clunky. The current system is absolutely ridiculous in letting step 1 issues fester.
