I am not sure what you are referring to in your message Sue. The people who do not know about submitting and searching are of course non-members.

E.,
Have you ever talked to someone who asks how you are, and then interrupts
before you can even say, "Fine, thank you?" I think that some people do not
really pay attention to what they read/hear, and therefore the confusion
begins.

Seemed odd to me but I have heard it now from several blind folks. Some of them work for agencies and software manufacturers too so the feeling must be widespread. The part about haveing to be a member to search worries me almost as much as the part about having to be a member to submit. I am also concerned that k1000 and bookshare do not work closely together. For instnace, it would be nice to somehow be able to input a title before scanning it and search quickly for it in the bookshare database even if you are not a member. that way, someone new to scanning can make sure the bookshare collection does not include the book before beginning the process of scanning.

How closely does bookshare work with the makers of scanning packages,
particularly those made for disabled users?
