I was pleased to note that even Scansoft Fast is not at all a bad OCR engine. I scanned a grungy old paperback with it, and I was very happy with the results--I read the whole thing and there were very very few errors. Beware though--it doesn't recognize double dashes. I discovered that, so I went back and fixed all the ones in that book, but it's something to be aware of. Besides the practical improvements, some fun things have been added. For example, I set Kurzweil so that when I close it it declares, "Okay, I'm gone." <grin> That was really satisfying yesterday when it was crashing and being stupid, and I yelled "Just get outta here!" as I hit alt-f4. <lol> The latest Fine Engine is really good, but it's also really slow if your computer happens to be an ancient hunk of junk like mine. However, I'll soon be getting a new computer, and then I'm sure it will be much faster. Kellie -- No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
