Hi Jamie. I'd like to offer you a different approach, one that takes a
little time on the front end but saves time on the back end. You're
right that your My Documents folder won't handle this many books very
well. You're on the right track there.

Instead of downloading everything to the My Documents folder, I have
made a folder on the root of my hard drive called Books. Inside that
folder I have 6 subfolders. My subfolders are:
BARD
Business and Career
Cookbooks
Mysteries
Nonfiction
Other Fiction

The names of the folders could be anything. These are just the ones I
use. I took a couple of hours spread out into short 20 minute sessions
to start sorting my big jumble of books, moving them out of their very
cluttered folder in My Documents and putting them into one of these
subfolders. If my hands got tired from cutting and pasting files, I
took a break and did something else. I've moved around two thirds of
my books to their proper home now. When I get a new book from
Bookshare or BARD, I take the time to put it into the correct
subfolder right away.

What is the advantage of doing this? When you're ready to read
something on your BrailleNote, you can go to one of your subfolders
and copy several books to your BrailleNote's memory card. You'll be
able to find things easily, so you can quickly copy and paste books to
your BrailleNote and then head off to a comfortable spot to enjoy your
book. You won't need to worry about trying to store a lot of files on
your memory card or flash drive since you can always hook up your
BrailleNote and get what you need from your computer. I only keep
around 15 to 20 books on my Pac Mate at any given time.

If you want to back up your books for safekeeping, the subfolder
structure is a breeze to copy and paste onto an external drive hooked
up to your computer. It'll take awhile to actually copy everything,
but you can go off and have a nice cup of coffee or tea, watch a
movie, or read a book while the computer does the heavy lifting.
(smile)

I hope this helps. Please ask for help if I didn't explain things clearly.
