Sarah,

Excellent guess. I had to have Lissi walk me through what she normally does
to determine it because the RTF file didn't show up in either her My
Documents folder or the subfolder where she does her validation. I showed
her how to extract the file to her working folder instead of leaving it
zipped the whole time.

I stayed on the fphone long enough for her to fill in the File Name field
using the Browse button, hit the Accept button, and see what happens, then
she took it from there. She actually got an error on the first upload
attempt because Bookshare timed out on her due to lack of activity, but she
said she thought she could handle it from there, and she did.

It's obvious that she's been working hard to not only learn how to validate,
but to develop her basic computer skills. Her My Documents folder is full
of files where she's been taking notes on the things people have helped her
with and tips she gets off the list. Keep up the good work, Lissi, and
congratulations again on uploading your first validation.

Gerald

Fortunately, the problem is solved and congratulations to validator and
helper. :-) I am just curious if the problem was what I suspect it might
have been. It sounds like the corrected RTF file might have remained in
it's zipped state for the entire process. If that was the case then the
RTF would never be visible in the list of files in the directory. The
zipped file would have had to been chosen for upload even though RTF was
the file type chosen. Most of the time zip programs have you unzip files
before you open them, but I know it is possible to open and resave files
without ever unzipping them. It just depends on the software you have. Of
course my guess about the problem might be entirely incorrect, but I
thought it might be helpful sometime in the future to know what can confuse
the upload process.
