If you are using MS Word, when you set the page size, make sure the "whole document" not "this section" option is set. Also, you could try setting the margins smaller, like 0.5 inch on all sides and make sure the "whole document" is set for that. Sometimes when there is very little text on a page the OCR program will put wide margins on that page. Then when you convert section breaks to page breaks, those wide margins will be applied to the rest of the book. Then you have the one or only a few characters per line for the rest of the book. So that's why it is important to make sure the margins and page size apply to the whole document. Another thing you can try is to select all the text in the book and go to the format menu and select paragraph and in that dialog, set all the indents to 0.
