[bksvol-discuss] Re: fine reader and extraneous line breaks

Hi gang,

I started validating some of the books I kept out of my massive submission
today, and realized that FineReader added some extraneous breaks. This is new
- it hasn't added extra lines for months. I'm wondering if we all upgraded our
Finereader programs and got a defective version. Sure hope they're working on
a fix pronto! I'll go check to see what all the settings are set to in the
office version tomorrow. Maybe someone at Bookshare changed them without my
knowledge. Really annoying!

Elizabeth, there is a setting in Fine Reader where you tell it not to save
line breaks. It's under tools, options, format tab, format settings. It's
the same place where you tell it to save page breaks and eliminate
extraneous hyphens.

However, it could be putting in line breaks for other reasons. If you want
to send me a sample, I'll look at it and see if I can figure it out. Make
sure the sample has both line breaks you don't want and those you do want
such as at the end of a paragraph.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] fine reader and extraneious line breaks

Does anybody know how to get Fine Reader not to put extraneous line
breaks in the middle of lines where they do not belong? Driving me
nuts on I Ching books where it is rampant. I know the submitter did
her best but we cannot figure it out.
