You really didn't misunderstand as that was my original thought. It wasn't until I slept on it that I realized how much better it would be if the pictures could be described before submitting. I'll let you knowhow it goes.

I agree with you, Jill, only because, as a sighted
person, I think perhaps I over-describe while at the
same time not describing something because I assume
the person knows what it is--and if the person has
never seen the object, like a tightrope walker, he/she
would actually need more explanation.

Anyway, I will get the book, so if you can't find
anyone, I'll do it.

I misunderstood. I thought you were going to submit it
and wanted someone to validate it. But you're right
about the text around pictures not scanning properly.
Often the page has a colored background and so the
text doesn't scan. Anyway, as I said, I'll do the
book and submit it if you're unable to find anyone
else. It's true that a blind parent could read it to
a sighted child, and I suppose if the chilid were too
young she couldn't describe the pictures
necessarily--but also the book is meant to be read by
beginning readers, so it would be good for a blind
child to be able to read it with descriptions. He or
she might be able to imagine objects and people, but I
suppose the colors might be hard to imagine.

Please let me know what you find out, i.e., if you've
found someone to do it or if you want me to.

Cindy

I'll let you know. Having gone through
this with my own
children, in my opinion this book will do best being
read by a blind parent
to their sighted child while the child looked at the
book and the parent had
the description to refer to.
