The previews for other books, definitely. If they sound good, then I might be motivated to scan them if they are not already on Bookshare. The coupons for ordering other books would be nice if they scan okay, but if not, then it's not a major loss for me. I had to delete one of those order forms in an old paperback I validated last summer because it was in really bad shape, and the formatting was terrible. The print was extremely small and there were check boxes for filling in and sending to the publisher. I just couldn't see how I could get it to come out intelligibly without a sighted person reading through it all and it didn't seem worth the trouble in that case because the info was very much outdated and almost certainly useless.

Does this mean you also want to be able to read the coupons for ordering other books which are sometimes included at the back of a book, or the preview samples from other books which are sometimes included as well, even if those books aren't available on Bookshare?

Hi All,
As a reader I appreciate reviews and comments being left in a book whenever possible. I definitely always leave them when I validate. To me, it gives
the reader a choice; skip them if you want to, or read them if you're
interested.

Of course I don't scan and can definitely understand material not being
included if it's basically impossible. Otherwise I appreciate the book
being as close to what I would get if I could just buy a print copy at a
bookstore.

Hope this makes sense, and it's not going to turn into a controversial
topic! <smile>!

I might agree with you if all books in a certain genre had reviews by
authors in the same genre. But many do not have reviews in the book at all, and those that do have them are not all by the same authors. So those that do have reviews - especially by authors that I know and like - are of value
to me.

I was going to say not to bother, but if Guido wants
them. I don't put reviews from the back cover; if
reviews of the book have been scanned, as validator I
leave them, usually. Of course the reviews of the book
are going to be raves. Guido, do you really find them
useful, or are you referring to reviews of other books
by the same author, which I can see would be useful if
they have info about the book don't just say how
wonderful the books are.

I've come to realize that authors of the same genre
will give positive reviews to a fellow author's book
in that genre, probably because they want the same
treatment. I have upon occasion, after
reading/validating a book, wondered how on earth it
could have been given such a good review. That's what
made me realize.

Okay it's the inside of the front cover that give me
problems. I guess I can rescan them after doing the
book since the print is more in bold.

Robert, please do put those front advertorials in
at the beginning of a book. They are often quite
informative. . .
I cut them off only when they have been totally
mangled by the OCR and cannot be reconstructed.

Do we have to put all the reviews of the book in?
We know that what ever the
review is it will be good for that book and can we
just put in the title
page and the copyright page of course? I forgot to
put the title and author
on night and there are a few junk characters on
the first page and fourth
page. I set kurzweil or should I say kurzweil sets
it's self and if the
print is bold at the beginning where the reviews
are it's a mess.
