By actual finereader, I mean the fine reader program itself, not the component engine that you find in k1000. I was using fine reader before I got k1000, but I can't for the life of me remember where the punctuation thing was, I think it was in formats settings. Once again, k1000 uses the OCR engine, but the finereader program controls what is done with the resultant images, and not necessarily in the same way in which kurzweil handles the images. The output of both programs is markedly different. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Katie Hill" <kaitlyn@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

HI Gene,What do you mean by actual Finereader. Most people on this list have not had the lustury of getting Openbook or Kurzweil and then investing in the other OCR packages. What is in Kurzweil is the O OCR engines of both Finereaderand Scansoft with the accessible interface on top of it. Katie Hill You can learn a lot if you are humble enough to listen. Will too many blank lines after the page break cause the problem you described with no chapter headings? When I scan (and Cotton Song didn't wind up with page numbers only because they were in horrible font which kept misreading the number it was supposed to be and I started to put them all in manually and then changed my mind) I usually make sure the page looks like: page break blank line page number blank line text blank line page break or page break blank line text blank line page number blank line page break I never have something immediately after the page break. I usually do a global replace of all page breaks to add a blank line before and after the page break. Will too many blank lines after the page break cause the problem you described with no chapter headings? Since I don't use a speech reader, I should have caught a white space before punctuation. I do look at each page after it is ocr'd and I do run a spell check but I know the spell check wouldn't catch that. The whole book was a font that didn't work well with OCR in Omnipage but it was such a good book that I wanted to share it. I will add to my list of things I look for, to look for space comma, space period or space quote.
