Hi Ann,

BTC is an indicator similar to "hold for" put on some books that Bookshare
staff have submitted to the checkout page. These books have had some
automation applied to them that new volunteers might not know how to handle,
such as handling of smart quotes, so that new volunteers won't have to deal
with trying to fix those things.

The BTC books were originally put on the checkout page for an influx of new
volunteers to work on when we had a big influx of new volunteers. They are
still ideal for new volunteers to work on. That said, if a book has been on
the checkout page for a few months, it is fine for more experienced
volunteers to proofread them. Adding books to the collection is, after all,
what we want to happen!

Hope that helps to answer your question.

Mayrie

Hi all,

What's all this about BTC? It's all over the checkout list what's this
all about? Just a personal comment, that book title sure is weird.
It has no meaning at all. I hope the author can write better than she or he
can name books.
