Hi Mayrie, I understand where you are coming from here. Being fortunate to have an Optacon, I always know what's on any pages whenever I want to know. I realize that most people without vision don't have this option. I have scanned books when my Optacon was in the shop. They were books that were a part of a series where all the books had the same format, very few pictures, and the text was of pretty good quality. But in general, I'm very uncomfortable about scanning books without my Optacon, and I would strongly consider not scanning at all for Bookshare if I couldn't use it to check and correct the results myself.
I guess I'm using too many words to say that when I write [blank page] in a book, I am sure that it is really blank. If it contains something else such as an illustration, or a map, or whatever, I will indicate that.

HI Evan and Sarah, I feel I ought to explain why I choose the wording on pages that appear to be blank that I use. Because I can't see the original page, I don't know whether it OCRs as a blank page because it is truly blank, or because it contained a picture or some other graphic thing that OCR just opted to consider nothing worth saving. I want to be as accurate as I know how tobe, thus, I say [This Page Contains No Text.] Just me being as careful as Iknow how to be. And also, for whatever it's worth, the reason that I don't leave pages entirely blank is so that no doubt will exist for future readers thatpagination has been preserved as accurately as possible. I'm just trying to give future readers as much accuracy and security in knowing they're gettingthe closest thing to the print book that I know how to give them. All just my reasoning, and I'm not saying that anyone should do or think asI do. I just wanted to explain my position, since Sarah asked. However, I put [blank page] instead of [This page contains no text.]Fewer words. As Lynn says, you keep the same format as other nonblank pages.Evan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynn I" <lynnskyi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, April 26, 2010 5:50 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: blank pages]This page contains no text.] Sarah! That left bracket and the sentence This page contains no text; followed by a right bracket. You still do the page numbering the same way. It's page break, blank line,[This page contains no text.], blank line, page break. Hope this makes sense. *smile* Blessings. This seems dumb to me, but I am willing to do it. Can someone tell me exactly what wording and punctuation should be used to indicate blank pages that should remain in the book? I have a book ready for upload except for that small matter, which is new to me. Just think it would be dumb to be inconsistent in wording, because then searching for blank pages wouldn't work.
