Hi Jill,
310 words? Well how many words does the book have? It might have 200,000+ words, therefore 310 aren't too many. I think the system goes by a certain percentage. Like I said, we've seen two Hardy Boys books that the rater wanted to flag as adult. Most likely since the books had the bad guys taking the boys prisoner.

The adult rating on BookShare is kind of like the NC17 rating more than the R rating for movies.

Your message reminded me of something I have thought about commenting on previously. I have gotten a message, for instance, that says there are 310 words...which indicate that the book should not be adult content. If there were 310 dubious words, how could that not be adult content? Submitters are asked to make this decision, and I sometimes disagree and change it because I think they are wrong or else didn't see that Have others on this listed noticed this?option.

Hi, Lissi. As for the issue of adult rating, it's highly subjective. If the
submitter didn't rate it as adult...I don't even remember if the submitters
can, but anyway, if you're not sure, let the automated tool tally all the
instances of adult-rated words, and if it thinks it should be rated adult,
you can rate it accordingly. Take care.

Dear Friends,

The book I'm going to upload was written with an adult audience in mind, but
isn't really graphic in describing sex. The f word is used often though not
outlandishly. It's a different world and second graders probably notice it
far less than I do. How do I decide if it should have an adult rating?

In the memoir, the narriator is age 8 through 12 in about half of the book
and a teenager in the rest. Most of the sixties occur in the 1960's and
recall the boy's efforts at learning to play guitar, forming a rock and roll
band, beginning to feel critical of his father and coping with first dates.
So, some teens might be interested in it.

I'd also like to know if it helps a book to have page numbers at the tops of
pages instead of at the bottoms. In the scan I have they appear at the top,
but in the print book they are at the bottom.

Is placing a blank line above and below each page number the accepted way to
protect it so it will appear in BRF files?

Thanks to anyone who thinks about helping or posts advice.

Always with love,

Lissi
