Text Cloaner, which is much cheaper will work, smile, as will Fine Reader 
both are much cheaper than kurzweil, though they don't have all the good 
features that Kurzweil has either.

I don't think it's the cost of a scanner that holds people back; it's the
cost of a good scanning program with Kurzweil costing almost $1000; this can
be a hardship for many would-be scanners. This is no way to be considered a
negative comment about Kurzweil, as in fact they are very generous in giving
copies of their program to award-winning college students as well as at
conventions for advertising purposes.
