[bksvol-discuss] Re: Wordprocessor for Validating

Hi:
I didn't think OpenOffice was very accessible with speech?
Thanks,

OpenOffice is great. It is better than Word. It opens any Word file and can save in Word if needed. It also works fine in rich text which bookshare asks for. It has all the bells and whistles, spell checker...you pick the language and grammar checker etc. Just Google it. I have Word but I still use OpenOffice. Even the OCR I use lists it as a target for it's file.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Wordprocessor for Validating

Dear Booksharians,

Recently, I've wanted to really start validating more books in order to help the collection. However, due to the fact I'm still in high school and a certain lack of income, the computer I validate on does not have Microsoft ^Word, and Wordpad won't do (especially for detecting garbage characters.) Neither, in fact, will the BrailleNote I have--a book I proofread was rejected due to junk characters which I am unable to see. Can anyone recommend a suitable free word processing tool, or at least a way to make what I have work better?
