Dear Katie,

It does help. Thank you. One of these days I may actually know a thing or two about computers. And thank you for scanning the Christmas book for me. I'll post my long synopsis, soon as I think it's in the collection, now.

Always with love,

Lissi

HI Lissi,

Think of it this way. Word and say Kurzweil are both programs you can edit
text files in.
Both programs can open and work with a number of text file formats.
RTF is one of the common types of word files which means Rich text format.
Bookshare requires final uploads to be in rtf format.
So for example you may have a TXT, doc or one of the other text files and
when you open them up you can then save them into rtf. It is best to do the
conversion when you first open the file then edit since in simple terms,
What you see will be what you get.

I hope this helps:)

Dear Monica,

The wheels are grinding!!! I may understand you. I'm saving your post in my
bookshare tips folder. It's reassuring to know my RTF and word aren't
conflicting.
Thanks so much for taking time to explain. I value every scrap of
information I get from you and all of the volunteers.

Always with love,

Lissi

Lissi, you're doing just fine. Rtf files are a file format, and Word is
the program many people use to edit rtf files. You're right on track.
Text files, with the extension txt, are different from rtf files. If you
get a txt file, you should open it with Word and then do alt f for the
file menu and then choose save as so you can make it into an rtf file.
Does that help you understand a bit better? You're doing a great job, and

I'm happy you're volunteering here. (smile)
