Hey Allison,
I can't help you with validating, but I'm curious what scanner you're using?

Hi guys,
I promised the list the book, Messenger, by Lois Lowry, a couple of months
ago. I have it, but it's been held back. It was the first book I did with my
brand new scanner, and therefore I think I may have missed a few pages. I was
so impressed with its speed, that I got more than a little carried away. I got
going, and then, when I needed to stop and fix something, I couldn't get the
scanner to stop! So I'd try to scan, rescan, insert, but it got a little
crazy. I'd lose track of where I was and where I'd been. Yeah, pretty special
I know! I like to think I've learned a lot since then... hopefully.
So here's the thing. I have an entirely scanned book with almost no errors.
It does well in K1000's rank spelling. Only problem is, I'm not sure it has
all its pages.
After having it sit around here for a month, I've finally come to terms with
the fact that I never will get around to taking care of it myself. The
quickest way would be to have someone cross-check the print book with my
scanned copy. One could skim and see that all pages match up number by number.
My guess (or perhaps my hope) is that there are actually few missing pages.
I'm really not sure. I don't at the moment have someone available with the
time to look at the scan just out of the goodness of their heart, and my actual
reader funding is not very plentiful right now, and what I have is used for
school.
So guys, if anyone wants it, I'll go ahead and submit it as is. It's really
up to you all. If not, I'll keep it a bit and see when it can happen. I just
hate leaving scanned books sitting around and not being used.
The book should be available at libraries. It's newer, but not so incredibly
new. If someone has problems, I can send my copy.
This one's just something I'd like to see on the site because is a sequel to
a Newbury Award winning book already in our collection. The Giver. And anyone
who knows me at all, knows that the availability of quality kid books is just
one of my things. <smile>.
So, someone write and let me know. Either on or off list.
Thanks!
Allison
