Nat Barrett also submits incredibly clean books. I just validated one of hers recently.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] To Our New Volunteers

Hello to our new volunteers. Welcome to Bookshare. :) I'm glad you're part of our Bookshare family. Since we have some new friends who have arrived over the summer, I thought I'd post this in case it helps someone.

As a new volunteer, I'd like to offer a suggestion to you, something I was told when I first got here. If you start with a book rated as excellent and in rtf format, you can get comfortable with the validation process itself. As you feel more confident about validating, books rated good or fair will seem easier to handle. My experience has been that book validation is sort of like learning to ride a bike. At first, it may seem that there are a lot of things to understand. After a couple of validations, you'll find yourself hitting a groove where it begins to feel natural so that you can focus more on enjoying what you're validating. Your questions are always welcome, and this community of people will help you if you get stuck. To start with, try looking for books submitted by Carrie Karnos, Tom Hawkins, Gerald Hovas, or Mayrie ReNae. I mention these people because I have personally seen that they produce books that are very easy to validate so you can focus on learning what to do instead of jumping in the deep end with a book that needs more work. On the step 1 page, you can use the download link below each title to see the book's information including the quality of the scan and the name of the submitter. If you decide not to take the book, just use your browser's back button or press alt left arrow to get back to the step 1 page.

I hope this helps you a bit, and I'm looking forward to working with each of you. Happy reading.
