E,
Have another look at Stephens message. According to it, blank pages are
retained when file creation happens, but when you open a file in Kurzweil it
ignores blank pages. So if you validate a KES file and ignore the BookShare
suggestion to convert right away, I would hope the conversion at the end
would be correct.

What about those of us who download a kes file for review from the step 2 page? We have to turn it into an rtf to upload and there is only k1000 to do this.

I concur with your observations. Simiarlily, I try avoiding a converted .kes file prior to uploading. One thing that I do, vconcerning blank pages, is place some characters on those pages such as a series of dashes, asterisks, plus, if appropriate, a page number, suitably protected. These then are no longer blank pages and will then more likely upload correctly.
