It's a compound word. Sprach means speak. I do not know the meaning of gebrausch.

I think Julie recognized the title as being German but
meant to call attention to the fact that, although "in
German" appears in parentheses after the title further
down in the description it says the language of the
book is English. The problem is that tone of voice
doesn't come across in emails often, though I read her
"It doesn't sound like English to me" as being
humorously sarcastic -- or ironic.

I put the title into Google, realizing that it's a
book and we could find it. I wish I'd thought of that
simple maneuver before calling on my husband for help
(he had German upteen years ago) and spending time
looking up words in our German-English dictionary
(sprachgebrauch did not appear, nor did it appear in
online German-English dictionaries)

But the translation of the book title is "Special
literature to development tendencies of the German
modern language:
Grammar
(morphology and syntax) (in German)

Hubby and I did figure out that it was a German
Grammar of some kind. To put it in less awkward terms,
it seems to be an advanced (we did get that word from
the title, and the word "usage" from the synopsis)
German grammar. I suspect either Pratik or Guido or
both can explain better.
