Hi Denise!

Just put the word heart in brackets like this [heart] and the reader
will infer that the heart was not actually printed as such. That's what I
do anyway. If you wanted to be more certain that the original text is
understood you can write in the brackets something like [drawn heart] Does
that help?

Mayrie

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] The heart symbol -- what do I do?

Hi all,

I'm hoping to finish proofreading this book tonight and hope someone here
can help.

The book has a sentence that reads "We heart Kitty", but the word heart is
actually not spelled out, but it is the symbol of a heart (just like the
bumper stickers). How do I represent this symbol in my correction? Right
now, the OCR software translated it as a V.

Help!!
