Hi, Rick! Depending on who the biographies are about, I may be interested
in validating some as well. Thanks!
Jana

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] The Big Bam, unsubscribing, and other chatter to
the batter in the box!
Howdy folks.
What a huge pile of emails that accumulate! I have been pretty much
offline
with lots of family and other summer stuff. Glad to see you folks are
still
keeping things going so well.
I actually tried to unsubscribe from bksvol-discuss before I left, and I
got
what I thought was a confirmation from the freelists email but I guess not
cause they kept coming.
I still may need to unsubscribe for a time, so maybe someone can correct
my
technique if I got it wrong.
Here is what I did:
I sent an email to
bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
And put Unsubscribe in Subject field.
Should I maybe have also put it in the message text area?
I received a couple weeks ago a message that my submission of American
Theocracy had been rejected, with reason stated that it was already in
collection. I am guessing that wires crossed when Carrie said she was
buying New York Times bestseller books, although I thought I had said
prior
that I had it near completion at time of her email to the list about it.
I don't really care since it was a book I was really wanting to read badly
at thte time. Except for the fact it does feel like a fair amount of
work,
and I guess I was looking forward to an acceptance. Maybe it is just the
mere word, rejection. Huh?
I am mostly looking at a stack of books that are related to music,
biographies of people in the music field, and the like, since I have a lot
in my library now that I have been wanting to read over the years. Is
there a volunteer with similar interests who wished so validate them?
Also I am very interested in reading a copy of the new biography on Babe
Ruth called The Big Bam, just reviewed in the New York Times on Sunday. I
didn't see any books by its author. Leigh Montville. Anyone know if that
book is in process of being acquired, scanned, or submitted? If so, I
will
wait. For a while anyhow. Funny. When you want to read something, you
just want to read it. Right?
Best wishes everyone.
I will not unsubscribe for a few days, just to see if there are any
replies
to any of the above.
Rik
