Two announcements moments ago on Harvard and Harlequin:
1) Harvard University Press, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has signed our
agreement, giving us world rights to their titles. They will be supplying
backlist titles to us in PDF directly and frontlist in EPUB starting in March
through Bibliovault. Harvard has a backlist of well over a thousand titles and
a frontlist of 220 titles per year.
Founded in 1913, Harvard University Press publishes important nonfiction in the
humanities, social sciences, and sciences. They have published such classic
works as "The Poems of Emily Dickinson," John Rawls's "Theory of Justice," and
E.O. Wilson's "On Human Nature” and such authors as T.S. Eliot, e.e.
cummings, Lionel Trilling, Leonard Bernstein, Jane Goodall, Italo
Calvino, Umberto Eco, John Cage, Nadine Gordimer, Eudora Welty, Walter
Benjamin,
Stephen Jay Gould, Carol Gilligan, and Helen Vendler. HUP is also the
publisher of the Loeb Classical Library which totals nearly 500 volumes of
Greek
and Latin texts, with facing English translations.
Of special importance to Bookshare is the extensive list of titles for
post-secondary students.

2) Harlequin Enterprises Limited, based in Don Mills, Ontario, Canada, has
signed our agreement, giving us world rights to its titles, the majority of
which they hold world rights for. They will be giving us 7,000 backlist titles
they have digitized in EPUB and will be distributing 300 frontlist titles a
month ongoing via LibreDigital, who also distributes HarperCollins and S&S to
Bookshare. They will be providing ONIX metadata via NetReads (which
distributes
RAND and S&S metadata).
Harlequin is the world’s largest publisher of romance fiction. They publish in
28 languages in 114 international markets on six continents. Since its
inception
sixty years ago, Harlequin has sold over 6 billion books and is Canada’s most
successful publisher and one of its largest international businesses. Harlequin

Harlequin has been committed to working with Bookshare since we first
approached
them over two years ago but they needed to hold off until they had fully
migrated to EPUB which they have just accomplished.
