Ahem, thanks Christina Roger and Mayrie for the heads up.

I forgot about the Brits. As weird as it might seem, they really don't cross my thinking processes until the third cup of coffee.

Besides, isn't it more fun to come up with an elaborate solution that doesn't work than to give it a little thought and do nothing?

I thought we were supposed to leave British punctuation as is too.

Hi Bob,

That wouldn't work, I don't think. Opening quotes are neither preceded by
or followed by a space, so you'd only be changing the opening quotes that
are the second part of a speech by one person. Besides, aren't we supposed
to leave British punctuation alone?

You'd have to do what you say and add the paragraph mark followed by an
apostrophe and replace it with a paragraph mark followed by a quotation
mark. And do the same thng with the apostrophe first and the paragraph mark
second. But still, I thought we were supposed to leave that British
punctuation alone.

What about doing two finds and replaces?

The first one would change a space followed by an apostrophe to a space
followed by a quote.
The second would change an apostrophe followed by a space to a quote
followed by a space.

I think that'd work.

Hi,

I pulled the Castle of Adventure from the Check Out list. I noticed
that all of the quotes were apostrophes. Is there a secret to changing
this? I checked for the ^0147 and ^0148 and that didn't work. I
thought about searching and replacing apostrophes, but realize that
may create spacing errors, etc.

Date: Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 7:04 AM Hi, All,

This is the second in the Enid Blyton adventure series for kids.

I noticed that the database wanted to leave out the "the"
so put it back in as it is on the title page. We are supposed to
keep the "the" when submitting, right? i bet I could have missed
that in "The Island of Adventure"
but all these in the series should have the article.
Perhaps if i missed it there's a way to fix it? I am not thrilled
with this database and should have mentioned that in my survey form
but it has come home to me more strongly now. They put publishing
dates instead of copyright dates, get the publisher somewhat wrong,
and you end up editing what you could have just put in yourself.
Almost feel tempted to leave out the ISBN altogether except that
sometimes the database does provide a synopsis which will work.
Sorry I went off on a tangent, but anyhow the book's ready, so
thanks and enjoy.

Regards,

Ilene
