MessageHi Rose,
Gustavo put it back on the download list a few months ago, probably for
someone to fix up. Apparently that person didn't follow through. I know because
I grabbed a copy about a week before it appeared on the download list. So yes,
it *was* on BookShare.

Digital Fortress by Dan Brown is already on bookshare, I have a copy on my
Braille Note, have not had time to read much of it yet, however.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Step 1 Languishers
Hi all,
Firstly, I'd like to applaud the work the BookShare Team and Volunteers
have done in the first quarter of 2006! This year is definitely shaping up to
be a good one from all the signs we've seen so far, ie. increased funding that
will allow BookShare to begin work on meeting some long term goals.
That said, I'm happy to report that the Step 1 page has been less than
400 books for a few days now. I'm hoping this is because books aren't sitting
around on it forever, and not that people are working on 15 books at a time.
And, that said, I know some of you have been wanting to root out the
titles that have been on the page for a long time. I've compiled a list of the
tob 27 books that have been there since before February 2005. And actually a
couple of the books were submitted as early as January 2004!
title author
The Mystery of Capital Hernando de Soto
Early Greek Thinking. Martin Heidegger
Digital Fortress Dan Brown
Essentials of Corporate Finance Ross Westerfield and Jordan
"Hands Heal: Communication, Documentation, and Insurance Billing for Manual
Therapists, Second Edition." "Thompson, Diana L. LMP (Licensed Massage
Therapist, Seattle, WA"
Range Management; Principles & Practices "Holechek, Pieper, and Herbel"
Changing Japanese Attitudes Toward Modernization Marius B. Jansen (editor)
Speed Tribes: Days and Nights with Japan's Next Generation Karl Taro Greenfeld
Reflexive Methodology: New Vistas for Qualitative Research Mats Alvesson and
Kaj Skoldberg
Our Arcadia Robin Lippincott
Physical Education & Sport in a Changing World William Freeman
Business Hits on the Web 2003-2004 with Excercises Jerry Furniss
The Triumph of Elohim (Diana Vikander Edelmaeditor)n
All That is Solid Melts into Air: the Experience of Modernity Marshall Berman
Forms of Talk Erving Goffman
Applescript in a Nutshell Bruce W. Perry
Cafe Nostalgia Valdés Zoé
Gabriel's Discovery Felicia Mason
Language of the Heart Bill W
Rome's Revenge Sara Craven
Brilliance of the Moon Lian Hearn
Flower Girls "Janet Dailet, Et Al."
Speaking Culturally: Explorations in Social Comm. Gerry Philipsen
Utilization-Focused Evaluation: The New Century Text (third edition) Michael
Quinn Patton
Untilization Focused Evaluation Micheal Quinn Patton
"Critical Issues in Special Education: Access, Diversity, and Accountability"
"AUDREY McCRAY SORRELLS, HERBERT J. RIETH, PAUL T. SINDELAR"
Remember Names Dale Carnegie
Yeah, I know a lot of these titles look boring and generally unappealing. The
only one I have personal experience with is the Mystery of Capital. The book
has lots of split words and little things that need correcting. If someone were
interested in cleaning up the book it would be doable, and that's the only
reason I didn't reject it.
BTW this list was ordered with the oldest books at the top.
Happy Volunteering!
Jake
