You enjoyed the movie! Good! We're planning to go as soon as Evan finishes the last book. He's on the second half of The Seeing Stone, now.

I'll be interested to know if anyone thinks the first 2 books need a rescan. Jamie and I BSOd books 3 4 and 5. Evan noticed that book 2 has no page numbers at all and that the contents for books one and two have no page numbers telling where chapters start.he said the text is quite readable though, so read on.

Thanks for the heads up on the score. Good music makes a good movie even better. I'll be listening for it.

Always with love,

Lissi

Well, just got back from the movie a while ago, and while I haven't read the books and so have nothing to compare the movie experience to, I did enjoy the movie quite a lot. Made me want to read the books. And a funfilled score by James Horner, reminiscent of his music from the movie "Willow."

Dear Booksharian Friends,

A movie based on the Spiderwick Chronicles, a series of 5 short novels for upper elementary aged children and teenagers, opens tomorrow. Adult fans of fantasy, action adventure, and of feel good movies will enjoy them, too.

As readers I suspect you'll appreciate the movie even more if you read the books first and all 5 are in the collection and can be found by searching Spiderwick Chronicles.

the names of the books in order are:

The Field Guide, Book 1
The Seeing Stone, Book 2
Lucinda's Secret, Book 3
The Ironwood Tree, Book 4
and
The Wrath of Mulgarath, Book 5

The plots revolve around 3 children suffering post divorced parents stress syndrome, 9 year old twin boys and their 13 year old sister. Living in an old house which is occupied by fantastic beings in hiding, they become acquainted with the faerie world with guidance from their great Uncle's manual on Faerie creatures and happenings. They have page turning adventures with friends and foes among the fey folk which test their courage, problem solving abilities and willingness to work together.

When you finish the series and want more, we have begun to collect the next 3 book series, The Nixie's Song, Beyond The Spiderwick Chronicles, Book 1, which introduces new children and marvelous creatures.

The stories are short and move fast. Take a break from long books and intense reading and give The Spiderwick Chronicles a try. Let me know your thoughts on the movies or the books.

Always with love,

Lissi
