Hi All,
There is some new information regarding the use of Bookshare.org under
Windows XP Service Pack 2. It may impact your access to the service;
especially, if you are using Kurzweil, Open Book or another application
under Windows XP SP2.
Service Pack 2 updates your installation of Internet Explorer. This update
has some new privacy and security settings which will interfere with your
access to Bookshare if you don't alter them slightly.
There are a number of privacy and security settings that advanced users may
want to work with to get the best balance of features for their needs. These
are within Internet Explorer's Tools Menu under Internet Options.
The easiest thing for most people to try is the following: Get into Internet
Explorer. Next, hit Alt-T to open the Tools Menu. Hit the Up Arrow once so
that Internet Options is highlighted. When the Settings property sheet
opens, hit Shift-Tab one time to get to the list of control tabs. The word
"General" will be highlighted. Hit the Right Arrow twice so that the Word
Privacy is highlighted.
Now hit the Tab key twice to highlight the word "Sites." Hit Enter to open
this dialog box. You will be in an Edit Field into which you should type the
complete url of Bookshare which is
http://www.bookshare.org
After you've typed it, hit Enter. Now, tab through the Privacy dialog until
you highlight the word OK. HIt Enter. You're done!
Please note that the settings you choose in Internet Explorer can impact the
way other applications such as Kurzweil or other Web browsers will work with
respect to Bookshare and other sites.
