Bob, 1599 pages deserves an extra Christmas/Holiday treat of some kind! Congratulations on your persistence and endurance.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Rise and Fall ... is done

I'm bragging here, so you may want to skip this message if you are short on time, or don't wish to hear a Texan brag a bit.

I have just completed validating the rise and fall of the third reich by William Shirer.

Carrie did a beautiful job of scanning the book. I believe she even changed the page images to page breaks for me. (lol).

I was initially put off by the length of the book; it had 1599 pages, including bibliography, footnotes and index.

Since this is one of my favorite books, and since I initially requested a replacement of the book in the collection, I felt compelled to read the entire book. (I must admit that I did doze off a couple of times during the reading of the index.)

The book started off with an accuracy rate of 94% according to K1000, and ended up with an accuracy of over 99% according to both bookshare's automated tool and Kurzweil 1000.

I think one of the lessons I have learned from this project is to get books you are interested in. We tend to do that anyway, but, I think that working on a book that maintains your interest means that you put in more work and love to see that Bookshare's collection has the best end-product possible.

Okay, I finished bragging, and will return you to your regularly scheduled program. And, though it was fun doing, I'm glad it's done.

If Clair rejects it, I'll sure have egg on my face!

Thanks for listening.

Bob
