[bksvol-discuss] Re: Question about reading books

Hi Chris. I think this will answer your question. If I've missed your point,
please let me know. For some reason, Bookshare sets you up to get bks2 files
by default if you use the VictorSoft program. You can change this behavior
and still use Victor. If you want to, you can have Bookshare give you zip
files. That way you can just unzip them to a folder and read them with
whatever tool you want, including the VictorSoft program. To do this, go to
the my account link on the Bookshare home page and press enter. Then look
for the preferences link and press enter. There is a checkbox on that page
about using bks2 files. You want to turn that off. Save your settings with
the save button. From now on you'll get zip files you can open with any
unzipping program. Just unzip the files to a folder on your hard drive, and
you'll be all set. I use 7Zip because I can select a bunch of zipped files
all at once and extract them to a folder. I only have to type in my password
once, and it'll just keep going until it's done. Other zip utilities may do
this too. I'm familiar with 7Zip though. http://www.7zip.com will give you
details and a download link. If you don't want to bother with software, you
can use the unzip utility that comes with Windows if you like. It just
doesn't have some of the powerful features other zip programs do. I hope
this answers your question.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Question about reading books

Hey all,

I am just curious about something. When ever I download a book to read, I
always open the book in the new bookshare soft tool. The book gets unzipped

and all that, but my question is, is there a file that I can just open the
book with, with out not having to unzip the same book each time I want to
read it?
If you need more clarification, please let me know, and I will be happy to
explain further.
Chris
