As others have indicated leaving such material is generally considered a
good thing if the material has scanned well. Everyone else kind of glossed
over your search engine question though. The answer is the same though,
there won't be any problems if that material is present.

This is a novel with the teaser at the beginning. I'm afraid this may
create some confusion with the search engine and isn't necessary to the
contents of the book. Should I delete it? It's merely a two or three
paragraph extraction from the text to entice the reader. Usually found
inside the front cover and before the title page.
I'm running this through spellchecker. Mostly finding words that were
hyphenated in the original text and are now simply divided by a space.
