[bksvol-discuss] Re: Question About a Special Character in Names

I don't know if it will affect the pronunciation of the Daisy version or not, nor do I know how the Braille translator will handle it. I am simply trying to keep what is in the book. I guess I'll just have to see what happens to the Ø - in the Braille version anyway, since I don't use the Daisy one - when it gets added to the collection. I can at least say that my JAWS doesn't seem to pronounce anything differently when I use that Ø compared to a word with the normal O.

Do I assume that when corrections like this are made, they will affect the pronunciation in the DAISY format but will simply be ignored or attempted to be verbalized in braille (such as when we see "greater than" written out?) This leads to an additional question; how is a book in the collection downloaded in order to see the print? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Evan Reese" <mentat1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Thanks, this is excellent! I can just use a global replace to correct these names. The Ø didn't scan quite right, so that's why I needed to find out what it was so I could fix them up.

My version of MS Word won't give me that using the alt-shift-o, but I can use the alt-0216 method to accomplish the same thing.

Thanks.

I don't know what it's called, but I have it in my
Symbols under the Insert MEnu in Word. I've pasted it
below. If it came out maybe you can copy and paste. It
can be made by keystrokes, at least on my keyboard, by
combining Alt shift o, i.e., alt capital o.

Ø

Hope that works for you.
