Another possibility is that the numbers or words are raised rather than that 
thy are true superscripts Try blackening the line or words, go to thef the 
format file   click on font, then on character spacing; see if in the space 
next to normal it indicates that the words are raised. Use the arrowthat's on 
the Normal space to raise it to normal.
